Tools for Mouthing

If you follow me on social media, you know I am incredibly passionate baby mouthing. Mouthing is an essential step in oral sensory-motor and feeding development. Babies begin mouthing within their first month, and start picking up and bringing objects to their mouths around 5 months. This hand to mouth practice prepares them for self-feeding, gets the ready to tolerate a variety of flavors and textures, and develops and advances chewing skills.
